Notes on proper care and
maintenance of cassettes, vinyl
albums, and cassette players
- To protect the recording on any tape cassette from accidental erasure, be sure to clip the tabs on
the back side of the tape. Holding the tape with Side A facing up, clip the tab on the left rear edge to
protect Side A. Clip the tab on the right rear edge to protect Side B.
- Cassettes and vinyl albums are sensitive to temperature variations. Do not leave them where
temperatures go below 32F or above 110F. The materials can warp, shrink, crack, etc. The windshield of a car, even the seat or cassette deck, when the sun is shining brightly, can
heat up to temperatures damaging to tape, case,1 or label.
- The heads, capstan, and pinch roller on cassette players must be cleaned periodically with a cotton
Q-tip moistened (not dripping) with isopropyl alcohol or commercial head cleaner. Dirty player
parts can cause a machine to eat cassette tapes and produce poor sound quality.
